How to Do Proper Etiquette for Eating Soup on Formal Banquet


You must have been invited to a formal banquet. Certainly, soup as appetizer is almost always served there. There are two types of popular soup, namely clear soup (consome) and turbid soup (potage soup or cream soup).

Generally, soup served in a hot state in a bowl of soup that has two or one handle only. While the soup spoons, round and slightly short of spoon feeding. Here's the etiquette when eating soup:
  1. If the soup is still hot, wait until the smoke is no longer soaring. That's a sign that the heat of the soup can be accepted by the tongue, so we do not have to blow it, moreover don't sip the soup until make a noise.
  2. Point your soup spoon to the outside while taking soup, so the soup not to contaminate your clothes. If the atmosphere is the formal banquet, put the left wrist on the table, but do not hold a bowl of soup.
  3. If the soup stay a little, use your left hand to lift half a bowl of soup in your direction. It's easy for you to scoop soup which stay a little.
  4. When finished, leave the spoon in the bowl of soup and not be in the inverted position.
